The Korean automaker has unveiled the 2019 Kia Niro crossover SUV on Friday. The EV is inspired by a concept that shares the same name, which was revealed at the 2018 Consumer Electronics Show in January. However, the production version of the Niro differs largely from the concept version. It is somewhat customary for automobile companies to introduce concepts that look showy and attractive and then produce street versions of the same vehicle with changes.
The Niro follows the same trend. It looks simple compared to the concept with some special touches like an enclosed grille and aerodynamic wheel design in the exterior. A few changes are also expected inside the spacious cabin.
There are two battery options, a 39.2-kWh battery good for 150 miles and a 64-kWh battery lasting 280 miles. It is expected that only the larger one shall make its way to the U.S. markets.
We do not have more details on the 2019 Kia crossover SUV including its price. However, further details shall be released once it is officially announced at the 2018 Paris Auto Show in October. The Niro is expected to go on sale in the first quarter of 2019.
