Despite being a mere facelift for the eighth-gen model launched in 2019, the 2024 Hyundai Sonata boasts some substantial design alterations that are sure to turn heads. The most visible and arresting of these changes is situated at the front of the midsize sedan. The pièce de résistance, a wide LED light bar, evokes memories of the Kona crossover, Staria minivan, and the bigger Grandeur sedan.

Exterior
Gazing upon the official images of the standard model and the sporty-looking N Line, we can’t help but be impressed by the tasteful redesign of the quad exhaust tips and the exclusive 19-inch alloy wheels adorning the latter. The rear lights have undergone a transformation, donning a levelled appearance as the luminous pattern no longer stretches towards the uppermost section of the rear cover. In a subtle but significant move, the H badge has been shifted slightly lower, now resting obediently below the light bar. And let us not forget the redesigned bumpers, making the rear of both the regular and N Line flavors look slightly more aggressive, a fitting touch for a car that demands attention. Indeed, while it may be technically a facelift, the 2024 Hyundai Sonata’s aesthetic enhancements will satisfy even the most discerning of critics.
Interior
The 2024 Sonata has undergone significant transformations within the cabin, presenting a revolutionary curved display reminiscent of BMW’s iDrive 8. The high-tech and visually stunning display showcases a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster as well as an infotainment touchscreen of identical size, both contained within a singular piece of glass shaped to perfection. BMW may have eliminated shortcuts to climate settings, but the 2024 Sonata retains a dedicated HVAC panel that now boasts touch-sensitive controls, providing drivers with an unparalleled level of control and sophistication.
Further enhancements to the 2024 Sonata’s interior include an impressive continuous air vent design and an innovative steering wheel featuring four dots arranged in the H code of Morse to give drivers a unique and sophisticated driving experience. The gear selector has been ingeniously moved to the steering column, creating a more organized and cleaner look on the center console, which has resulted in an extension of the central armrest, incorporating a palm rest for ultimate driver comfort. As the highly-anticipated 2024 Sonata prepares to make its debut, Hyundai has announced plans to showcase the vehicle at the upcoming Seoul Mobility Show, slated to kick off on March 30. While details regarding the car’s technical specifications are still under wraps, eagle-eyed observers have already spotted a prototype bearing a mysterious sticker that reads AWD.
