After introducing the CT5 sedan at the 2019 New York International Auto Show, Cadillac has decided to unveil its performance version, the CT5-V on May 30. Not just that, the Cadillac CT4-V will also be revealed to rival the likes of Audi A3, Mercedes-Benz A-Class, and BMW 2-Series.
The V-series has grown into popularity over the years and is successfully giving a tough time to its German rivals. Cadillac also recently introduced the CT6-V carrying a 4.2-liter Blackwing twin-turbo V-8 engine pumping out 550 horsepower. However, Cadillac has discontinued its best known CTS-V and ATS-V. The CT5-V has to fill the shoes of both these performance cars. The CTS-V left the scene with a 640-horsepower 6.2-liter supercharged V-8 while the ATS-V had a 464-hp 3.6-liter twin-turbo V-6 engine.
Although we are not clear which power unit will serve the CT5-V, we expect it to have a version of 4.2-liter Blackwing V-8.
Talking about the CT4-V, it will ride on the same platform as available for CT5 and CT5-V. However, we doubt it to have a V8. We expect it to carry either a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V-6 or even a turbocharged inline-4. Stay tuned to know the exact details about it.
