The 2017 Volvo S90 sedan is already here, but now the automaker has plans for the Volvo S90 Coupe which will arrive by 2020. The S90 Coupe may give a tough competition to other luxury 2 door models such as BMW 6 Series and Mercedes E Class.
The Volvo S90 Coupe will be based on the company’s new scalable platform architecture, which is also used in the S90 sedan and the XC90 crossover. The company’s senior vice president of design, Thomas Ingenlath, stated that the SPA architecture is flexible enough to build a Coupe version.
In terms of design, it will look similar to its sedan sibling and will also borrow some styling cues from the concept coupe model showcased at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2013.
The powertrain could include a 4 cylinder diesel or a gasoline engine, but who knows, considering the popularity of alternative powertrains we can even expect the Volvo S90 Coupe to be a hybrid.
