The new Ford Tourneo debuts in Europe, spawning options including full-electric, PHEV, and diesel. Starting with the E-Tourneo, the EV model, it gets a 74-kilowatt-hour (usable capacity) battery, offering a projected drive range of 230 miles (370 kilometers). The powertrain creates 215 horsepower (160 kilowatts).
The E-Tourneo can use an 11 kilowatts AC or 125 kilowatts DC fast charger. The latter can add up to 80 per cent juice from 15 per cent in only 41 minutes or 23 miles (38 kilometres) in only 5 minutes. With this power, the electric van can tow up to 4,409 pounds (2,000 kilograms).
The E-van is capable of certain tasks thanks to the Pro Power Onboard technology with a 2.3 kW of power. Just for comparison, the F-150 Lightning offers up to 9.6 kW.
The second electrified option is the Tourneo PHEV which includes a 2.5-litre four-cylinder Atkinson cycle engine and an electric motor. The 11.8 kWh battery has enough juice to offer 31 miles (50 kilometers) all-electric range.
The Tourneo diesels are accessible in 134 horsepower (100 kilowatts), 148 hp (110 kW), and 168 hp (125 kW) power outputs. The engine mates to an eight-speed automatic or a six-speed manual. An all-wheel-drive layout is also available. The diesel-powered van can haul up to 5,512 pounds (2,500 kilograms).
The new Tourneo van employs the latest architecture, offering a lower floor height than before. The independent rear suspension delivers enhanced ride and handling. The van is available in standard and long wheelbase for different variants – Active, Sport, and Titanium X.
The Tourneo is a three-row van in both standard and extended wheelbase form. It can seat up to nine people, except for the electric version, which can accommodate eight.
The buyers can opt to alter the second and third-row seat layouts. Ford says a six-people conference configuration is even a possibility with the Tourneo.
Besides, there are plenty of creature comforts, such as a panoramic glass roof, a 14-speaker B&O stereo, a 13-inch infotainment display with Sync 4, a digital driver display, and so on.
Ford did not reveal the pricing information but plans to launch it in mid-2023 in Europe.
